DESCRIPTION:What Changes Can We Expect to See in FCPA Enforcement Under the Biden Administration?\n\n\n\nAlthough the Trump Administration Department of Justice imposed record penalties under the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) from 2017 through 2020\, fewer and fewer new FCPA investigations were initiated in those years. Many observers expect the Biden Administration to continue the trend of increasing FCPA enforcement settlement values\, while also increasing the pace of initiating new FCPA investigations. Anticorruption priorities will also likely change.  Anticorruption matters present some of the most severe threats to a company's organizational integrity. Understanding the changing enforcement culture is an important component to addressing those threats.\n\n \n\nOn July 8 the Legal Committee will conduct a Zoom meeting on what changes we can expect to the FCPA under the Biden administration. Our speaker will be David C. Rybicki from the Washington\, D.C. office of K&L Gates. Douglas Mancill of Legal Analytics will moderate the event.\n\n \n\nOur Speaker: \n\nDavid C. Rybicki is a partner of K&L Gates in its investigations\, enforcement and white collar practice group.\n\n \n\nDavid was a Deputy Assistant Attorney General at the Criminal Division of the U.S. Department of Justice ("DOJ") and has worked in other roles in the DOJ. He worked as an Assistant U.S. Attorney. He is a prominent figure in the white collar crimes community and in an excellent place to give us insights on what we can expect under the new administration.\n\n \n\nDavid served as law clerk to the Honorable Edith H. Jones of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit in Houston. He is a graduate of Stanford Law School\, where he served as Executive Editor of the Stanford Law Review. He holds an M.Phil. from Cambridge University\, where he was a Gates Cambridge Trust Scholar\, and a B.A.\, magna cum laude\, from Yale College.
