SUMMARY:Legal Committee: Trade Competition Law in Thailand – Is This The Great Awakening?
DESCRIPTION:Few things impact business and competition more than an actively enforced trade competition law. Five years ago Thailand's trade competition system was overhauled with a new law\, a new Commission and what was thought would be a new mandate to create a level playing field for businesses and consumers\, but it wasn't until recently that there has been an increase in regulations and a surge in decisions issued by the Commission. The number of published decisions by the Commission in 2022 was record-setting and more than double of 2021\, which was in turn more than double of 2020. Is this the great awakening of the Trade Competition Commission? What do the bulk of these rulings entail? How does this impact your company and your industry? \n\n \n\nPlease join the AmCham Legal Committee for a discussion with two prominent Thai lawyers\, Pranat Laohapairoj\, Partner at Chandler MHM and Wayu Suthisarnsuntorn\, Partner Pisut & Partners\, who will share their views on what is happening at the Trade Competition Commission and how it could affect business in Thailand\, including an update on interesting cases of enforcement and possibility of a leniency program\, followed by an open questions and answer.\n\n \n\nBONUS: This is the first in-person event that the Legal Committee has held in three years and AMCHAM members may attend FREE OF CHARGE. There is limited seating available so please register quickly. There will be no online streaming for this event. \n\n\n\nOur speakers:\n\nPranat Laohapairoj is a partner at Chandler MHM Limited and has been with the firm since 2012.
