Pichai Naripthaphan was appointed Minister of Commerce in 2024. He began his political career in 2008 when he was appointed Deputy Minister of Finance under Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej and has also served as part of the Pheu Thai Party's economic team. In 2011\, he was appointed Minister of Energy under Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra. During his tenure\, he developed energy policies and plans for the country. Pichai holds a bachelor of economics\, and a master of economics from Chulalongkorn University.
