Scott arrived in Bangkok in September 2020. His previous overseas tours included serving as Minister-Counselor for Consular Affairs in Berlin\, Consular Chief in Monterrey\, American Citizens Services (ACS) Chief in London\, Deputy Director of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement in Baghdad\, ACS Chief in Mexico City\, Consular Chief in Matamoros\, Political Officer in Berlin\, and Consular Officer in Manila. Domestic tours included Deputy Director of Consular Training at the Foreign Service Institute\, Field Liaison Officer in Consular Affairs' Visa Office\, and Watch Officer at the Nuclear Risk Reduction Center. Prior to joining the State Department\, he worked for two years as a policy analyst in the Bureau of Export Controls in the Department of Commerce. Originally from Shawnee\, Oklahoma\, Scott received an M.S. in Foreign Service from Georgetown University in 1988\, an M.A. in German from the University of Oklahoma in 1986\, and a B.A. in Letters from the University of Oklahoma in 1981. He speaks German and Spanish.
