SUMMARY:Tax Council: November 2024 Webinar - U.S. Tax Updates
DESCRIPTION:In this unpredictable election year\, U.S. legislators have not been too active in terms of U.S. tax policy. However\, there are several issues that international Americans residing in Thailand should still be aware of. In this year's U.S. tax update\, the webinar will be focusing on the following:\n\n \n\n The outcome of the SCOTUS ruling regarding the government's ability to tax unrealized income.\n\n The results of the IRS appeal regarding the filing requirement for Form 5471.\n\n The compliance requirements for the Corporate Transparency Act\, and upcoming deadline.\n\n The expiring provisions from the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act in 2025\n\n \n\nAdditionally\, we'll be discussing some of the implications from the U.S. elections and what that might mean for U.S. Tax policy going forward.\n\n\n\nAbout speakers:\n\nMatthew Stevens is Managing Director at Global U.S. Tax Plan\, a Bangkok-based U.S. tax consultancy that provides U.S expatriates around the region with income tax planning and preparation services. Matthew is a certified CPA and holds a B.A. in Economics from University of California\, Santa Barbara and an M.B.A from California State University.\n\n\n\nJared Garfield\, an associate attorney at Hone Maxwell LLP in Singapore\, specializes in offering U.S. international tax and business law advice to both companies and individuals. His expertise includes aiding U.S. citizens and green card holders in complying with U.S. international tax reporting obligations\, as well as assisting taxpayers in Asia with U.S. assets and beneficiaries. Jared's unique position as a California-licensed attorney based in Singapore allows him to facilitate cross-border transactions\, serving as a conduit for Asian investors and businesses looking to enter the U.S. market while ensuring U.S. tax and business law compliance.
